Jesse Parrott is an interdisciplinary artist currently living, working, and teaching in Long Beach, California. He grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa and attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he received his Bachelors of Fine Arts, and received his Master of Fine Arts Degree in printmaking from California State University, Long Beach in 2019.
Parrott's work is driven by thorough research into process and material. His current body of work is focused on the processes, tools, and choreographies of traditional printmaking and how those traditional processes inform modern methods of production and technology. He is interested in the collision of using modern materials, tools, and installation strategies to represent historical processes. In this collision, he lends reverence and preciousness to a specialized field which is often opaque to those outside it, and commonplace to those within it.
